From Condemnation to Confidence
“All of us have sinned and we all fall short of God’s ideal; yet, now God declares us not guilty if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in His kindness, freely takes away our sins.” (Romans 3:23-24)
RAMBLINGS from Lacy’s dad – We are vacationing for a few days up at one of our favorite places, Cloudland Station. The cabin we are in is simple and small, with NO t.v. We are forced to live a simpler life, that soon becomes a more pleasant life. We spend more time not just WITH each other, but INTERACTING with each other.
Lacy put me to sleep last night singing to me and Connor by the fireplace, while Kris worked on a puzzle with Evan for three hours upstairs. We love coming up here because with fewer distractions we connect easier with each other. More importantly, its easier to connect with our Heavenly Father.
I realize the world has us tricked into thinking we need more stuff. In fact the world even thinks our stuff needs to be nicer. And with nicer stuff, means more attention you need to pay to it, and more time you need to spend working to pay for it. In the mean time God is patiently sitting by, waiting for us to visit with Him.
I remember the day that Lacy and Evan got baptized at the little church of my childhood. They walked away from that experience wet, but not perfect. They looked angelic at the moment, but later there would be moments where they apparently lost their halos.
The same can be said for Connor and his baptism, and for mine and Kris’. The symbolism of being baptized was our way of saying to our friends and family, “I believe this whole Jesus thing. I actually think God made the penalty for sin-eternal death. He then turned around and had His Son pay the blood sacrifice for any of us willing to accept it-by crawling up on the cross.”
One reason I love it up here at Cloudland is we have time to pause. And when we pause, we realize that because of our faith in Him, we are no longer CONDEMNED. Instead as we reflect on our life through Christ, our CONFIDENCE is bolstered on this life, and the life yet to come…..
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, (Romans 3:23-34 ESV)
