God Builds Faith by Giving a Dream
“by His mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of – infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.” (Ephesians 3:20 LB)
RAMBLINGS from Connor’s dad – In the 5th grade God gave Connor a desire to go on a mission trip with his teacher to Peru. She was actually moving there to start life as a missionary. I was reluctant to do it because it was inconvenient with our new business, and it was going to be costly. But Connor persisted, and we were able to cover the costs with the help of friends and family sponsoring Connor’s part. We got up super early each morning after sleeping on our “concrete beds”, were out on the streets all day, and fell into bed late each night, exhausted. It was some of the hardest work I had ever done, but by far some of the most rewarding. Connor’s dream to go on that mission trip changed our lives as we saw the needs of so many, and the ability of our loving Heavenly Father to reach them wherever they were. To say the least it was a paradigm shift!
Connor’s dream was sparked by Miss Heather’s dream. A dream she had since her high school years, feeling that one day she would go somewhere in South America. She was so convinced, that she had been learning Spanish for years, and was very good with her second language.
God has changed the direction of her path several times, sometimes painfully. But Heather Bowan, confident that she was where God wanted her, held on to His promises even tighter. She is now doing even more then she had originally set out to do, and is still down there, as Connor starts his first year in college.
Heather’s obedience to do something bigger then she was, because she was confident it was coming from God, has impacted countless people in Peru. That has now spread to Colombia where we took her for a mission trip with our whole family. With her help we were able to minister to orphans, being blessed, as we went to be a blessing. And it has definitely had an effect on at least one little boy in Georgia, who with wide eyes, saw God at work in Peru some 8+ years ago!
Did Heather have any idea when she obeyed God’s leading, of the ripple effect she would have on so many? God sure did!…
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20)
