Dedicate Your Work to God

by kingteamdad

We are Christ’s ambassadors, and God is using us to speak to you. We urge you, as though Christ Himself were here pleading with you, “Be reconciled to God!’” (2 Corinthians 5:20 NLT)

Ramblings from Lacy’s dad – We had the opportunity to have Kris’ grandmother live with us the final two months of her life. It was a sweet time as we tended to her needs and loved on her. The kids were great about spending time with her, talking, laughing, sometimes just sitting quietly listening to her favorite gospel music with her.

God called Mimi home on Mother’s Day several years ago. We had a celebration of her life at the funeral home chapel, showing pictures of her life while, you guessed it, listening to some of her favorite gospel music. The video ended and our then 12 year old Lacy, stepped up to the microphone with her guitar and sang a sweet simple song. But before she sang, she talked about her love for Mimi and the impact Mimi had on her life. Then Lacy said she’d be singing a song she had written for that specific celebration, dedicating it to Mimi.

When she finished there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. It was a beautifully written piece, by a 12 year old who put all she had into a song, to honor someone she loved. I can only imagine Mimi’s reaction to it, with tears flowing down her cheek, and that big smile of her’s glowing from ear to ear.

Did that song make Billboard’s Top 40 List? Nope. Is anyone presently singing it in Nashville? No. Was it obvious that Lacy did her very best on writing it and then singing it (with big crocodile tears running down her face) for Mimi? ABSOLUTELY!

That picture of dedication is what I want to carry through my day today. What I do might be simple in the world’s eyes. But I want God to see that I am putting my ALL into it. Giving whatever it is I am doing 110% to honor Him as I go.

Hopefully, there will be times when as I do it, He will see tears of joy and love for Him!  In those times, I hope people who may see me will catch a glimpse of Jesus instead…

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. – (2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV)
