The Bible is very easy to understand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to understand it because we know very well that the minute we understand, we are obliged to act accordingly.

Ramblings from Lacy’s dad – Yesterday was Father’s day. Some of the ladies in our class had the kids answer some questions about their dads. There were the typical questions like: “how old is he?”, “what’s his favorite color?, and “what’s his favorite food?” One question jumped out at me: “When your dad has time he _______________?”
Almost without exception, their answer was “he plays with me”.
Clearly these kids like dads who have margin in their lives! It’s pretty obvious…it’s so he can spend time with them.
Clearly God also likes for us to have margin in our lives! It’s pretty obvious…it’s so He can spend time with us.
Yesterday, Lacy and I went on our weekly drive. As usual, we were in the car leisurely driving the curvy backroads of north Georgia. No agenda. No master plan. Just hanging out together. Some of the time we were quiet, just drinking in the beautiful scenery as it slid by us. Other times we were talking about the topic du jour, chosen by Lacy. Some of the time we were singing along with whatever music she had chosen for us. We were there to enjoy the day, and each other’s company.
We pulled into the driveway as the sun cast its final rays on the day. We had a wonderful afternoon of spending time together. That would not have been possible if I didn’t have margin in my day for her.
Today my prayer is I give God that same kind of margin…
The fear of the Lord prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short. (Proverbs 10:27 ESV)
