Success Involves Help From Others
“If you want to go fast, go by yourself. If you want to go far, go with others.” – An African proverb
Ramblings from Connor’s dad – Kris and I have been blessed to be a part of several awesome Bible classes. Several of which got much larger in size then the little country church I grew up in. One reason they were great classes is because God brought some talented people to it who were willing to roll up their sleeves and help.
Yesterday, I walked into class and found no coffee for our sometimes sleepy participants. The person who normally does that, did not make it to church. Unfortunately, it is no one’s responsibility to check. A few weeks back, there were no snacks for the class on Sunday morning. Again, we have not gotten organized enough to have someone in charge of food.
Don’t get me wrong, this class is a fantastic group of people. The lack of involvement is not their fault. Kris and I have been so busy with the class, our business, health issues, and our three teenagers, that we haven’t had a chance to solicit their involvement. That hopefully will change in the coming weeks.
By involving more people, several good things will happen. Success or failure at having things like coffee and snacks will no longer be dependent on me or Kris. More importantly, when someone is absent a week or two, follow up to see if they are ok, will be more consistent. More importantly, we will get more organized on ministering to each other. In doing that, we will be more successful in showing Christ to a watchful lost and dying world!
After all, the very wise Solomon knew there is strength in numbers when he said in Ecclesiastes 4:12, “And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken“….
