God Says I’m Valuable
Do not be anxious about ANYTHING, but in EVERY situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Ramblings from Lacy’s dad – Time and time again, Lacy’s seen us run across someone who they or their spouse, is in a hard place. If it’s not one of them, its even worse, and it’s a child. They are struggling with some kind of pain, be it financial, physical, relational, emotional, or spiritual. Sometimes the pain can make them feel like they are mentally trying to walk through water. They grow tired. They grow weak.
I’ve told Lacy that I picture Satan’s little demons like vultures. They’re perched around, watching for those stumbling along through a desert in their life. As they see the victim grow weak and tired, they start circling, unseen. As they circle they whisper words of discouragement. “Your not going to make it.” “Might as well give up. Nobody cares.” Unaided, things can escalate. Now the vultures have landed and are walking along side the victim. Whispering “Loser!” “Things are hopeless!” “You might as well give up.”
I don’t understand why some of us experience medical, financial or spiritual deserts we do. For some maybe its self-imposed from bad decisions. For many others they were simply minding their own business. It’s as if we just wake up one day and find ourselves in a bad place. Maybe we accidentally read the map wrong. Maybe the GPS was recalculating. Either way, we wake up one day with sand in our mouth.
In the old western’s, with actors like John Wayne, the Calvary often came galloping in just in time. Don’t give up! Don’t listen to the buzzards. God says don’t give up! Call the calvary-by PRAYING! “Do not be anxious about ANYTHING, but in EVERY situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
For those of us not presently going through the desert, be diligent. Someone we know is. Be attentive. You might be the only calvary around…
Then He said to His disciples: “Therefore I tell you, don’t worry about your life, what you will eat; or about the body, what you will wear. For life is more than food and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: They don’t sow or reap; they don’t have a storeroom or a barn; yet God feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than the birds? (Luke 12:22-24)
