“All of us have sinned and all fall short of God’s ideal. Yet now God declares us “not guilty’ if we trust in Jesus Christ who, in his kindness, freely takes away our sins.” (Romans 3:23-24 LB)
Ramblings from Connor’s dad – Why are we Christians so slow to learn of God’s mercy, His grace, and His love? The enemy is glad to remind us of our failures, if we allow it. If I goof up and make a mistake (sin), realize it, and then go to God and confess it and sincerely say I am sorry, His word promises that I am forgiven. In fact, if I go back later and ask forgiveness again, His reply would be “What? I don’t know what your talking about.” He promises in His word that He will forgive us, and He does. The sin historically is still there in time, but He covered with it with His Son’s blood. So He no longer see’s our sin, He see’s the blood of Jesus.
Now the enemy is a whole different story. He will remind us of a sin or failure from 10 years ago. He doesn’t care that we confessed to our Heavenly Father 10 years ago. He doesn’t care that it was covered by the blood of Jesus and that is all God sees.
He will try and beat us up and make us feel we are failures. Once we have accepted the saving blood of Jesus Christ, the enemy can no longer keep us out of Heaven. But, he will try and make us as ineffective as possible. Satan will remind us of our past sins (you know-the one’s God no longer remembers or sees) to keep us from being as useful in getting others to Heaven.
The enemy does not want us to understand God’s grace, God’s mercy, or His love. Grace is getting something you DON”T deserve. Mercy is not getting something you DO deserve. God’s love is making the penalty for sin death!…and then asking His Son to take our place on the cross!
Thank you God for loving us that much! Thank you Jesus for loving ME that much!…
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, (Romans 3:23-24)
