God is Watching Over You
The tyrant dies and his rule is over, the martyr dies and his rule begins.― The Journals of Kierkegaard
Ramblings from Lacy’s dad – Two days ago, there was yet another shooting. This time taking the lives of so many precious innocent children. Who knows what greatness could have come from those little ones. Families were devastated and Christmas will forever be different to so many.
Friday morning God was not surprised when that evil happened. I firmly believe He knew it would happen when He spoke the world into existence. I have to remind myself that evil happens, because since the original decision in the garden to disobey God, evil is in the world. Did God want this to happen? Heavens no! But, just as I believe there is free will to accept His gift of eternal life through Jesus, there is also the free will to reject Him, and do evil. Satan loves the fact this happened. He loves the fact it has scarred Jesus’ birthday for so many! He hates us and loves to see the pain and anguish.
Thank God we have Jesus! Romans 8:28 says that if we love Him…He is big enough to work this tragedy for good. I can’t even begin to understand how He will do it. I am thankful though, that He does. Many times I have drawn comfort from the final few verses in that chapter of Romans 8. They read – v35 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?… 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Thank You God for being there with us as we go through the storms! Thank You that evil does not erase the fact that Jesus was born some 2000 years ago, and 33 years later died a horrible death on the cross, so we could have an eternal relationship with You. Thank You for loving us enough to give us Christmas! Now Father, I pray that You do what You can do so well. Comfort those hurting, in a way only You can do. Fill the empty spot in the hearts and homes of those who are missing a loved one with Your Holy Spirit’s love and comfort. And in a miraculous way, what men mean for evil, I will trust that You make result in good. In Jesus matchless name, Amen.
